FLAME
in Cornwall
We are an ecumenical group with committee members from the Methodist Church and the Roman Catholic Church. We run Open Days with relevant family topics to resource, inform and help those in ministry and voluntarily working with in the community. We also work as a signpost for particular pastoral queries with regard to families, children, parents' marriage and divorce. I have worked for the Baptists, free churches and other Christian organisations, as well as in schools.
Preparing for Marriage courses are run on a monthly basis in Truro or we can come to an individual parish or a group of churches for a one-off day by request. Other resources include: how to build a better relationship with your partner, baptism preparation, bereavement, teenage relationship material (PSE), drugs information courses for parents, assertiveness courses for adults and teenagers, and supporting those who are single in our community.
We are affiliated to the FLAME network in the Church of England and as a consequence we are able to feed back information to the centre from grassroots and also have valuable recognition through input in policymaking both within the broader church and through consultation with the Government.
